Version 0.12 was a massive rework of core systems in Out of Ore, including the menu, save system, building and production, inventory and store, and vehicle behavior. This update also marked the point where Darksider was actively contributing on the backend and systems side, helping move the project to a more stable, extensible foundation.
The update was developed and iterated on through a long series of beta builds (0.1200–0.1230), then moved to the main branch once considered stable enough.

- Brand new save system designed for long-term compatibility
- Massive building and production rework (new models, systems, and UI)
- New maps and game modes (default, creative, tutorial, flat, winter, etc.)
- Reworked store, bank, inventory toolbar and vehicle inventory
- Major vehicle and dirt system overhaul, bulk mode removed in favor of improved dynamic dirt
- Extensive optimization across UI, foliage, dirt, collisions, and vehicles
Old saves became incompatible with 0.12, but the new save system was built to remain compatible across future updates.
